Directing Your Movie: A Two-Day Intensive UCLA Seminar with Myrl Screibman
Los Angeles, CA -- November 1-2, 2008
"Myrl Schreibman is awesome. It's like he compressed a year's worth of film school into a two-day experience."
In this two-day intensive seminar, learn how a movie or television director thinks, how they impact their audience, how they tell a story not in the broad strokes but in the minutia, and how they guide the creative ship. Directing is not only about camera placement, coverage, and the production process - it's about good planning, collaboration, trust, delivery, and the relationship of time to creativity. Through discussion, screenings, and demonstrations, we will explore:
* How directors approach the material.
* Pre-visualization and its importance for a successful director.
* Working with actors and casting directors.
* Directing of the camera: the basic syntax of the movie director.
* Camera coverage and the story: how a director's choice of shot affects an audience in how they see or feel at any moment.
* Practical on-set directing: how the director maintains control and creativity while working in a highly technical and often chaotic environment.
Myrl Schreibman is an award-winning director and producer who holds both a BA and an MFA from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. He is the author of the books "The Film Director Prepares" and "The Indie Producer's Handbook: Creative Producing From A to Z." Myrl's previous students include Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious 2), Patricia Cardoso (Real Women Have Curves), and Chris Chomyn (Bubba Ho-tep).

FrameForge At Work With The Pros!!!
Rumor has it that the Punisher 2 (working title) was prevized with FrameForge 3D.
Kamal Haasan, one of the most accomplished actors in India, is using FrameForge 3D to previz his next movie.
Dean Devlin used FrameForge 3D on his pilot Leverage.
Lionsgate Pictures have just released Johannes Roberts' new film When Evil Calls in the U.S. (Sony Pictures' release in the UK is scheduled for later this year). The film started out as the world's first series for mobile phones, but has been extended into a feature due to its success. Because of the groundbreaking format Gatlin Pictures used for its original release, they needed to plan every shot to the smallest detail because of the size of the screen. Says Johannes Roberts: "We couldn't have done this without FrameForge."

Fox's "On the Lot" Winner Uses FrameForge 3D Studio
Los Angeles, CA -- August 31, 2007
FrameForge 3D Studio user Will Bigham won best director honors on the Fox reality television series "On the Lot." In fact, three of the top ten finalists, Will Bigham, Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, previsualized their short films with our storyboard software.
These young directors faced incredible pressure as they shot a different original short film every other week. FrameForge 3D's advanced previsualization and storyboarding features helped the finalists to preview and refine their creative projects. FrameForge 3D is the only storyboarding software that allows users to see exactly what their camera and lens collection will produce before shooting live.
Executive Producer of "On the Lot," David Goffin, was impressed: "Glad you can be a part of making these filmmakers achieve their dreams. The software is great." Andrew Frank, the Supervising Producer, added, "I look forward to using it for my television shoots!"
Congratulations to Will from all at FrameForge 3D Studio!
Star Circle Wins Best Suspense Short Film at NYIIFV Festival
From Digital Media Net Interview:
DMN: It is said that Samaritan was conceived to demonstrate the studio's belief in making a good film in look and story in a cost effective manner. Obviously previsualization played a major role when setting up shots. You mention the use of Frame Forge 3D Studio. How flexible was the software and how did it help you to achieve your goals?
Kimball Carr(Star Circle Pictures): FrameForge 3D was instrumental in the creation of Samaritan and sped up the process of creating renderings to represent each shot in the film. The software proved useful due to its responsiveness and fairly user friendly interface. For basic blocking, camera angles and even sequencing the final cut of the picture, which benefited a low shooting ratio, the package was quite good. Star Circle Pictures will continue to push the envelope with its next project in terms of blurring the line of pre production, production and post, and part of this continued innovation will be greater use of previsualization methods and tools.

FrameForge Macintosh version now Universal Binary!
FrameForge 3D Studio 2 for Mac now runs natively (i.e. equally fast!) on both the Intel and PowerPC platforms. Mac users owning or planning to purchase the new "Intel" Mac are rightly concerned how well their software will work on these new computers and FrameForge will not be holding them back! Minimum system requirement is OS 10.3.9 or higher.
Only WebGrab-FF2 version 6.0.1 allows registered users of FF3D Version 2 to update the program code to Universal Binary. Again, this free update REQUIRES WebGrab-FF2 (v.6.0.1). WebGrab is typically found in the FrameForge 3D Folder. Users can gain access to WebGrab-FF2 (v.6.0.1) by reviewing the instructions found in the FREE UPGRADE link below.
